Mosman Parks & Bushland celebrates 50th Anniversary.

The Mosman Parks & Bushland Association, originally the Ashton Park Association, was formed in 1964 when bushland at Bradleys Head was threatened with destruction.

On 25 October 2014 the Association celebrated 50 years of protecting parks, bushland and open space and the development of a system of bush regeneration, known as the Bradley Method.

The celebration included conducted walks around the Bradley Bushland Reserve and as part of the formal proceedings guest speakers included Cr Peter Abelson, Mayor of Mosman, Robyn Williams AM, of the ABC’s Science Show and Ockham’s Razor and Jeff Angel, Executive Director, Total Environment Centre.

Kate Eccles, president of Mosman Parks & Bushland Association and a passionate bushcare volunteer said that “the wellspring for most bush carers is a love of the environment – a love of nature and a desire to preserve it.”

The story of bush regeneration started in Mosman 50 years ago. More than 20 environmental groups and organisations from around Sydney attended the 50th Anniversary celebration – “a real tribute to the Bradley sisters and our Association” said Kate.
