Our stance on climate change.

 

The Mosman Parks & Bushland Association has long been concerned about Climate Change.

Like our weather watchers, our scientists, our biodiversity watchers and like our school children, Mosman Parks & Bushland has long been concerned at Australia’s lack of action on climate change. We have been advocating stronger action on climate change in our submissions and on the streets.

 

Zali Steggall OAM, MP for Warringah. 

We are so proud that in November 2020, our own elected MP for Warringah, Zali Steggall presented to parliament a Climate Change Bill that is both reasonable and possible. We wrote in support of the bill to the Parliamentary Inquiry.

Mosman Council’s draft Climate Strategy and Action Plan

We are also proud of our own Mosman Council. In 2019 Cllr Tom Sherlock moved a Climate Emergency Motion, the result of which was the draft Climate Strategy and Action Plan. During 2020 we attended Council’s workshops and forum, and one of our committee members is a member of Council’s Climate Action Community Consultative Committee. In our submission we suggested that the task of goading the community into action would be difficult.  Some of our suggestions were accepted and changes made.
